Hungarian photographer Gábor Máté‘s long-term project Inner Sky traces the complex link between the personalities of parents and the characters of their children. Children’s success, happiness and desires hang by a slender thread, spun by their parents.

“Inner Sky” confronts fundamental questions: Does the stability of a family unit, or its dissolution, leave an indelible mark on a child’s soul? Máté uses the evocative language of photography to give children a voice, seeking answers to how parental relationships influence their inner world.

The limited pint zine Inner Sky by Gabor Mate was part of the exhibition at Synthesis Gallery in 2022. Curated by Nadezhda Pavlova and Nikola Mihov, the zine’s title drew inspiration from a poem by Marin Bodakov. Our work also included organizing media coverage for Gábor Máté’s impactful project.
