We had the privilege of designing and distributing the limited print zine “How to Draw Portraits and Friends” for the The Bulgarian Helsinki Committee (BHC). The BHC, an independent, non-governmental human rights organization founded in 1992, is dedicated to protecting political, civil, cultural, and social rights, with a strong focus on upholding the rights of the most vulnerable groups, including children, women, people with disabilities, unpopular minorities, and those deprived of their liberty.

This zine was created as part of the “Roma Empowerment for Anti-Discrimination and Integration: Strengthening Capacity at the Regional Level in the Areas of Anti-Discrimination Mechanisms and Dissemination of Good Practices in the Field of Integration” (READI) project. Its core goal is to strategically direct the efforts of national and European institutions toward resolving the systemic problems faced by Roma communities.

Our design work aimed to make this vital information accessible and engaging. Recognizing the project’s focus on youth from the Roma community, we opted for an attractive, colorful, and youthful layout to ensure the zine resonated effectively and supported its powerful advocacy for change.
