dolce far niente magazine (2018-2021)

From 2018 to 2021, we had the honor of designing the layout for the first six issues of Dolce Far Niente, a vibrant print magazine from Radio Darik. Published twice a year and distributed free of charge at select locations in Sofia and along the Black Sea coast during the summer, the magazine is a unique collaboration with journalists Konstantin Valkov and Marieta Tsenova serving as editors-in-chief.

Dolce Far Niente is a meeting place for unconventional people who break the mold of thinking, inspiring stories from art and science to entrepreneurship and technology. Through engaging articles, interviews, and narratives, the magazine delve deep into the talents of diverse individuals.

Our design work focused on creating a bold layout that complements these rich stories, ensuring an immersive reading experience. A significant aspect of this project involved navigating the challenges and opportunities of a large-format publication. Dolce Far Niente began as an oversized newspaper-style format before transitioning into a more conventional magazine size. This required adaptability in our design approach to maintain visual impact across different scales. Additionally, we managed the design of advertising pages, integrating them seamlessly into the editorial flow while preserving the magazine’s premium aesthetic.
